Codex Slash Commands
Slash commands are quick controls inside Codex conversations.
How To Use Them
Type a slash command in the prompt box or CLI TUI, then follow the arguments or interactive choices.
Common Slash Commands
Common commands include:
/status: show current state./model: switch or inspect the current model./approvals: change approval behavior./review: start a code-review pass./goal: work toward a longer-running objective.
Mode Switching (Local ↔ Cloud)
Some surfaces let you switch between local and cloud execution. Choose based on whether the work needs your machine or can run remotely.
Goal Mode And Context
Goal mode is useful for longer work that may require several rounds. Give a concrete objective and let Codex continue until the goal is complete or genuinely blocked.
